Following a long career in the Royal Air Force I settled in West End in 1991. I have worked for several companies in the field of Facilities Management. I currently work  for AWE Uk, Reading.

My wife and I have three children who attend the local schools. In addition to supporting the local community, I am a keen fundraiser and supporter of the Village Fete and the West End Show where I can usually be found serving real ale or hot dogs. I enjoy skiing and clay pigeon shooting.

As a local councillor I am very keen on supporting and preserving our strong and vibrant community. I believe most residents are overwhelmingly in favour of maintaining West End’s character which I regard as very special for those that live and have settled here. It is my aim to make sure that West End is at the forefront of attracting the infrastructure and funding required to support our growing community.

I have lived in West End since 2006. The close community feel of the village is something both my wife and I value and I am delighted to have the opportunity to play an active role in that community. I believe there are great opportunities to further strengthen the character of West End while also enhancing the facilities and services for local people.

I worked for many years as a journalist, specialising in business and industry reporting before moving into corporate communications.

I was born in West End and have lived here all my life. I have 2 sons who both went to Holy Trinity and Winston Churchill Secondary School. I work in the Village, and surrounding areas, but in my spare time I am Show Manager for the West End Agricultural and Horticultural Show, having sat on the Committee for over 40 years. I am also Chairman of the Chobham Poor Allotments and the Henry Smiths Charity. I am passionate about the Village, the West End community and the environment as a whole. I think it is important to build strong relationships with local schools and groups and work hard to support their fundraising community events. I have been a Parish Councillor for just over 20 years and feel privileged to have the opportunity to support and serve the Village, as well as striving to make West End a better and safer place to live and work.

My late husband and I move to West End in 1975. I was a Lecturer in Plant Sciences and Micro biology in Slough, the College is now part of Thames Valley University. From 1999 – 2010 I was a part time Lecturer at Merrist Wood. My two sons were born in 1976 and 1979 and in between, as a consequence of diabetes, my husband  became totally blind. We were both committed to village life from the start, Laurie with Holy Trinity PTA and myself as a founder member of West End Village Garden Club in 1980, still a thriving Club today and actively maintaining the War Memorial. For many years I have spoken actively about climate change and its consequences. Following my husbands death in 1996 I have participated in many village activities! Twenty years ago I served as both Borough and Parish Councillors, I chaired the Village Design Statement Steering Group, I served on the Village Society Committee and the Tree Group. Currently I am Secretary of the Garden Club and enjoy gardening and for relaxation, playing bridge.

Born in West End I have served on the Parish Council since 1992 – possibly the longest serving Parish Councillor in its history. I am director of WJ Medhurst (Developments) Ltd, established in West End in 1979, which now concentrates on supplying building materials to local builders. I also do consultancy work for local councils regarding specialist drainage works and installed the drainage on the recreation ground back in 1990. With my knowledge of grounds maintenance I oversee the upkeep of the recreation ground here at West End.

As W.J. Medhurst Promotions, I carry on my late Grandfather’s tradition – Horace Medhurst – of showing Shire horses, including Fullers Brewery Shire horses over the summer at various shows and fetes in the South of England. Since 1966 I have played a significant role in the West End and Windlesham Agricultural and Horticultural Society, to which I am Vice – Chairman. I’m also on the committee of the Chobham Show and have served on the executive committee of the Surrey County Agricultural Society since 2002.
